Lydia Forge

Registered Social Worker, MSW

Hi there!

My name is Lydia Forge, and I’m the founder of Heart & Mind Therapy. As a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist, my passion for psychotherapy began with a healing journey of my own. That experience has deeply inspired my commitment to helping others heal and thrive as the best version of themselves.

My Favourite Quote

One of my favourite therapy quotes is by Albert Einstein:

“Stay away from negative people; they have a problem for every solution.”

We often view a person’s behaviour as the problem. However, I’ve found that the root cause of behaviour is often the environment or mindset influencing it. In other words, the behaviours we see on the surface are usually symptoms of the people, situations, or environments we choose to surround ourselves with.

I believe that, much like a plant, we must first examine the soil in which we’re growing before blaming the plant for being unwell. Coping mechanisms, avoidance behaviours, and strong emotional responses (or their absence) often reflect external factors shaping our inner world.

To me, this quote invites us to take an honest look at our circumstances. From this place of awareness, we can begin to explore where we are responsible for the outcomes in our lives and where external factors play a role. It’s also a reminder to understand ourselves better and identify which environments and behaviours help us thrive—and which ones don’t.

In many ways, this quote is a call to action. I would be honoured to walk alongside you as you explore and build the inner resources to create a life you love and a world where you feel truly loved.
